In America the Republican party has been hijacked by fundamentalist Christians who try to keep a hold on power by convincing the hoi polloi that they are under constant threat from outsiders like Muslims and atheists. In this interview Marsha Blackburn has declared that American Christians are being persecuted to the point where their freedom is under threat and that only the Republican party can save them. But then a reporter asked for specific examples...

The reason she could find no specific examples of Christians being persecuted or losing their freedom in America is really quite simple. Nothing of the sort has ever happened in that country.
