The Hillbilly Gospel:
Thou Shalt Not Kill
(Except If I Don't Like You)

A guy with the unlikely name of Maverick Bryan became a little annoyed when the mayors of seven different towns decided not to post the Ten Commandments in the school rooms.

So what do you do when the local mayors refuses to write "thou shalt not kill" on the school blackboard? Well according to Maverick Bryan, you kill them. You take them out onto the court house lawn and hang them from a tree!

(Where's all that Christian love and tolerance we hear so much about?)

Maverick Dean Bryan, 56, appeared before U.S. District Judge Susan Hickey with Texarkana lawyer Jeff Harrelson in a third-floor, Arkansas-side courtroom. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Harris said Bryan's plea agreement includes Bryan's pleas of guilty to seven counts of mailing threatening communications, a 12- to 18-month federal prison sentence and the government's agreement to dismiss a single count of felon in possession of a firearm at sentencing.

"I never meant no man no harm," Bryan said. "I'm just an old trucker, a mountain man, equipment operator. That's all I am, ma'am. I made a grave mistake, your honor."

Handwritten letters postmarked Jan. 5, 2015, mailed to the mayors of Hope, Nashville, DeQueen, Ashdown, Lewisville, Prescott and Murfreesboro promised to hang the community leaders from trees on the courthouse lawn if they didn't put prayer and the Ten Commandments back in school and eliminate the Common Core curriculum.

[...]

At a detention hearing last year Bryan admitted in colorful testimony to penning the letters and to being the author of an advertisement that ran twice during 2015 in the Thrifty Nickel seeking a $23 million loan to raise a Christian army to overthrow the U.S. government.

The Hattiesburg Tornado

Four people died and many more were injured when a tornado ripped through Hattiesburg on January 21, 2017, but a statue of Jesus remained standing on the campus of a Christian college (William Carey University). WDAM TV published a photograph on their Facebook page:

Reporters provided the following details:
  • Four people died
  • Multiple injuries were also reported
  • Extensive damage was reported on Arledge Street
  • Damage was evident for multiple blocks
  • structures destroyed
  • roofs missing
  • downed trees and power lines
  • William Carey University also took a major hit from the storm.
  • There is damage to most buildings on campus
  • Fire station number 2 in Downtown Hattiesburg suffered a direct hit.
  • Power lines blocked one of their firetrucks
  • Multiple gas lines were ruptured and broken
  • Extensive damage was also been reported on Sullivan Kilraine Road
  • and Richburg Road in Lamar County.
  • The Living Word Church on Tatum Road took significant damage
  • There was also extensive damage done in Petal.
  • The strip mall near Foxes Pizza was destroyed.
  • Walmart suffered significant damage

But forget the dead, forget the injured, forget the damage, forget everything. The statue of Jesus was still standing and that's the only thing that interested the Christians who left their comments on the WDAM TV Facebook page.

Some of these comments sound like they come from non-Christians taking the piss, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are all from devout believers. You see the Christians have wasted their whole life believing that god will protect them from bad things and therefore, when something bad happens to them, they have to interpret it as something good! If they tell that lie to themselves (and to each other) then their belief in the goodness of god remains firm. If they didn't tell that lie to themselves they would have to admit they have wasted their whole life worshipping a callous and uncaring god - and they simply do not have the courage to make that admission.

So here are a few of the hundreds of comments:
Chris Morgan The Bible that is in our chapel at Carey was untouched but was flipped to Psalm 46, “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” Psalms‬ ‭46:1‬ ‭

Karen Espree NOTHING can defeat the power of GOD....I've heard of a witness that their house caught on fire and they loss "everything" BUT as they walked through the rubble they found the Bible and it wasn't burned at all. The world rests on the Word of God!!! He's all powerful, Amen!

Kim Reid Quin A statue of Jesus is standing. It is s comfort to most of us. Why did it stand when there was so much devastation? No one knows. Most of us believe it is a sign ... I am a graduate of WCU. Unless you have been there and lived there, I don't think you will understand the significance of somethings. I will pray for those of you with unbelief.

Barbara Cranford I am praying right now - not for the tornado victims but for you mockers and unbelievers. I would be so afraid if I were you.
Linda Walton Smith God was with those that died, he welcomed them to heaven with open arms, unless of course they chose not to accept him as their Savior and Lord, then, well they are pretty warm about now.

Karen Mizell This is so inspiring. How can people doubt our loving and faithful God. He truly protected the students today. Thank you God.

Angelica Quintana May God's will be done. It's not our place to ask why. Nothing on this earth belongs to us, the lord lends everything to us. I don't even belong to myself. We need to have faith and accept whatever it is the Lord gives us. Earth is not our permanent home, heaven is.

Dawn Rushing Smith if the 3 dead were Christians they are rejoicing with their Jesus. Better off than the rest of us.

Judy Dean God is reminding us that even in the middle of a storm...he is there to give us hope and strength.

Debbie Henley With that statue still standing. Jesus may be telling you unbelievers that you better look at your on life.

Fern Chavers Hallelujah Christ is our king

Another Chemical Comparison Test In Adelaide

This years Tour Down Under is almost over --- I didn't even know it had started!

Some people call it a bike race, but it's really nothing more than a chemical comparison test. Whichever team has the best chemist wins the event.

Update:
Richie Porte finished up winning.  I wonder if his chemist gets a bonus payment.

Look Into My Cold Dead Eyes

These are photos of the Muslim terrorist who shot more than a hundred people and killed 39 of them at a New Year party in Instanbul, 2017.

The top photo was taken by the Muslim killer himself, just a few hours before the massacre began.

The bottom photo was taken by news reporters just a few hours after the Muslim killer was arrested on Jauary 16, 2017.

I am intrigued by the cold-dead-eyes technique employed by this horrible little Muslim. It is a defense mechanism that allows him to overcome his natural feelings in any situation he finds himself.

In the top photo he is trying to set himself above his potential victims. If he lapsed into the thought patterns of a normal human being his natural empathy would give him pause for thought and he may not be able to proceed with the killing spree. So he transports himself (intellectually) beyond the human realm and plays the role of a superior (almost god-like) entity with the power to decide who lives and who dies. At the same time he concentrates his gaze into the middle-distance thus enabling him to avoid any emotional attachment to the people around him (he can't identify with them so he doesn't care what happens to them).

In the bottom photo he is trying to set himself above his captors. If he lapsed into the thought patterns of a normal human being he would have to admit that he is no longer in control of his own destiny. So he transports himself (intellectually) beyond the human realm and plays the role of a superior (almost god-like) entity who cannot be touched by mere mortals. The funny little humans may have control of his physical body, but the real man - the real Muslim killer - remains free and clear in the heavenly realm beyond the reach of any human. At the same time he concentrates his gaze into the middle-distance thus enabling him to avoid any emotional attachment to the policemen who have captured him (he can't identify with them so they do not concern him). Things may have gone pear-shaped down here on planet earth, but up in the heavenly realm (of his mind) this Muslim killer still thinks he is in control of the situation and still calling the shots.

Actually I've over analysed the situation. He's more like an angry three year old child, sitting in the corner with a handkerchief on his head saying, "I'm not here. I'm not here."

Satellites Galore

It was probably thirty years ago. My two brothers and me were out in the backyard looking for satellites. We didn't know anything about their schedule but we knew there were plenty of them so the chances were that it wouldn't take long before we saw one.

Well we saw three!

But here's the amazing thing: They were all converging on the same point in the sky and, for just a few seconds, all three were together in the same place at the same time! I'll never forget that sight.

Who Knew Choking Could Lead To Death?

THE death of a 13-year-old Brisbane boy in a choking “game” has sparked warnings for parents to educate their children about the dangers of the online craze.

Youngsters film themselves choking and post the videos, not realising they can kill themselves or cause lasting damage.
They are kids, they are not aware of the dangers and the consequences.

When I was a child the game was called "Chicken". Two show-off kids would stand on the train track as a train approached. First one to jump was the "chicken". The other guy occasionally got snotted - but hey - that's what the game was all about.
