The Chase Was Terminated (That Old Story)

Two people are dead and a man has been arrested following a high-speed crash involving a stolen vehicle on the Princes Highway at St Peters, in Sydney's inner west, early on Thursday morning.

It's understood police had been pursuing the ute in a nearby suburb earlier in the morning, but had terminated that pursuit for safety reason before the crash occurred.

I've heard that story before. Whenever an innocent party is killed by cars involved in a high speed pursuit, the police ALWAYS say they stopped the pursuit just before the crash occurred. Later, when you see the video, the "non-pursuing" police car arrives on the scene just a few seconds after the crash. Ah well, the coroner buys it - and that's all that counts really.
