Electric Snowflakes

In the 38th chapter of the book of Job, God is pointing out that he knows everything and Job knows nothing! He emphasises his point by sarcastically asking Job a series of rhetorical questions:

  • Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
  • Who marked off its dimensions?
  • Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea?
  • Or walked in the recesses of the deep?
  • Have the gates of death been shown to you?
  • Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
  • Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
  • What is the way to the abode of light?
  • And where does darkness reside?
  • Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain?
  • Does the rain have a father?
  • Who fathers the drops of dew?
  • From whose womb comes the ice?
  • Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens?
  • Do you know the laws of the heavens?
  • Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
  • Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God?

If you are a member of the Christian laity, then you won't agree with my opinion that god was being sarcastic in Job chapter 38, but you will easily understand that his questions were, indeed, rhetorical - and nothing more than that.

But if you are not a member of the Christian laity then what are you? Probably a money hungry control freak who preaches to fundamentalists because they are the dumbest people on the planet and so easy to fool.

About 30 years ago some of those money hungry control freaks came up with an education system which they sold to devout parents who wanted all subjects linked back to god and the bible. The group called themselves ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) and published a series of booklets which they called Packets of Accelerated Christian Education (PACE) and which can now be found in Christian schools all around the world. Here's an example of the nonsensical rubbish they teach:

Right in the middle of the 38th chapter of Job, the con artists at ACE read these words:
Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?
(Job 38:22-23 - New International Version)

And while every sensible Christian knows that it is just another rhetorical question, the people at ACE are pandering to the dumbest, most gullible people on the planet and so they decided to put a scientific spin on those verses and include the story in PACE #1087. Here's the story as described by Johnny Scaramanga:
ACE’s Science 1087(aimed at students in year 9) suggests it might be possible to generate electricity from snow:

Scientists have known for years that snowflakes are shaped in six-sided, or hexagonal, patterns. But why is this? Some scientists have theorised that the electrons within a water molecule follow three orbital paths that are positioned at 60° angles to one another. Since a circle contains 360°, this electronic relationship causes the water molecule to have six ‘spokes’ radiating from a hub (the nucleus). When water vapour freezes in the air, many water molecules link up to form the distinctive six-sided snowflakes and the hexagonal pattern is quite evident.

Snowflakes also contain small air pockets between their spokes. These air pockets have a higher oxygen content than does normal air. Magnetism has a stronger attraction for oxygen than for other gases. Consequently, some scientists have concluded that a relationship exists between a snowflake’s attraction to oxygen and magnetism’s attraction to oxygen.

Job 38:22, 23 states, ‘Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?’ Considering this scripture, some scientists believe that a tremendous power resides untapped within the water molecules from which snowflakes and hailstones are made.

How can this scripture, along with these observations about snowflakes, show us a physical truth? Scientists at Virginia Tech have produced electricity more efficiently from permanent magnets, which have their lines of force related to each other at sixty-degree angles, than from previous methods of extracting electricity from magnetism. Other research along this line may reveal a way to tap electric current directly from snow, eliminating the need for costly, heavy, and complex equipment now needed to generate electricity.

My scientific knowledge isn’t superb – not helped by three years of ACE – so I asked Professor Paul Braterman, a chemist at Glasgow University and a committee member of the anti-creationist British Centre for Science Education, what he thought. “Bullshit on stilts” came his reply, in a brusque email pointing out that snow has no magnetic properties. The prospect of generating free electricity from snow, he added, “bears no relationship to reality”.

Another Christian Called Home

This story is about the sudden death of Jeremy Whitman (on the left in the picture below) who, until recently, was a pastor at the Lancaster Baptist Church.

The story was written by Paul Chappell, current pastor at the Lancaster Baptist Church, and it is noteworthy, not for what it says about Whitman, but for what it doesn't say.

In fact, Whitman was involved in a road rage incident. He pulled up at the traffic lights, jumped out of his car with gun in hand and murdered the driver of the car next to him. He shot the driver (Erik Ungerman) multiple times and then escaped into traffic while Ungerman bled to death. When the police finally caught up with him, Whitman took the cowards way out by firing a bullet into his silly brain.

Apparently Paul Chappell didn't think any of those details were worth mentioning!

Well of course not. There's no way a baptist preacher is going to admit that one of his offsiders is a murderer. In fact, as soon as he discovered who had committed the murder, Chappell made his staff go through the church website and remove all references to Whitman as a pastor.

Creationism Will Never Die

I used to think that fundamentalist Christians might one day realise that Creationism is a confidence trick perpetrated by evangelists, but now I discover that Creationists don't actually know what it is they believe in. There is no point showing them evidence that proves the falsity of Creationism, because they simply would not recognise it. Having seen the evidence they will casually declare that they don't understand any of it - and therefore Creationism is still true! But when you ask them what Creationism is, they just as casually declare, "I don't really know, but whatever it is, it is still true."

Following is part of an interview with Blake Griffin; an American Christian who plays basketball for the Los Angeles Clippers:

You guys grew up in a religious household, right?
Yeah. We went to church every Sunday—not every Sunday, but we went to church a lot of times. And I went to a religious school. So I was constantly around it.

Do you still go to church?
I haven't in a while. But I still—I go with my brother and his wife. They have a little Bible-study thing out here. What's great about now is, growing up and being in Oklahoma, I think the idea of people who are religious is they try to shove their religion on you, and they think that that's the only way. They're very judgmental. And I try to kind of take the approach of "Whatever it is you do, cool." Like, "Don't judge me for doing what I want to do. I'm not gonna judge you for doing what you want to do." And I think that's what's cool about out here.

Were you surprised at the reaction when you said recently that you believed in creationism?
Yeah, I was a little bit—just because, like, if you said you believe in evolution, I'm not gonna be like, "You fucking idiot!" [laughs] You know what I mean? I'm just gonna kind of be like, "That's whatever."

How does it feel to be widely criticized for a sincerely held view?
I think my previous four years of basketball, and being in this kind of thing, just prepared me for it, because I was like, "Oh, wow, people really cared that I said that." And then I just kind of let it go.

Do you believe in science?
I believe in science. I believe in all of that. I just... Honestly, when I'm at the beach and I'm looking at the ocean, I'm looking at the mountains and the sun is setting, I'm seeing people running up and down, laughing, having fun, I'm like, "This had to be created. This is created." And that's my personal thing.

So it's not an elaborate theory about, "Okay, man and dinosaurs were both here at the same time on this particular date...."
I might not have put thought into it, honestly. [laughs] I just kind of like, oh, yeah, creationism, that sounds good! But I guess I never really put so much thought into it, because I never thought that people would be pissed or really make me think twice about it. If you ask like 90 percent of the people in Oklahoma, they'd agree. And then when you get to coasts, it's very, very different. And a lot of people are very closed-minded when it comes to things like that, and don't—I don't want to say closed-minded, but it's their way or the highway. And it's unfortunate that people on both sides are very closed-minded about it. Because there are religious people who are very closed-minded to a lot of things that aren't necessarily right, in my opinion. So it's on both sides.

Islam - The Religion of Peace

A lengthy video address and a written English translation attributed to Abu Muhammad al-Adnani was released on Monday, which called for “muwahhidÄ«n in Europe, America, Australia, and Canada” and across the world to defend the Islamic state against the “dozens of nations...gathered against it”.

If you can kill a disbelieving American or European – especially the spiteful and filthy French – or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be ... Do not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict. Kill the disbeliever whether he is civilian or military, for they have the same ruling. Both of them are disbelievers.

Did you hear any moderate Muslims condemning al-Adnani for his hate speech? Of course you didn't. The moderates are just as bloodthirsty as the extremists. They don't have the courage to get involved in wet work, but they will always cheer on those who do.

David Jorgenson - Christian Hero - Child Molester

On the 16th of September, 2014, the Golden State Baptist College voted David Jorgensen as its "Alumni of the Day"

On the 18th of September, 2014, people started checking up on David Jorgenson and discovered that he was a convicted child molester
The church is also being sued in local court for a 2002 incident where then-teacher and associate pastor David Joseph Jorgensen committed lewd acts on a female student when she was 14.
According to the anonymous plaintiff’s complaint, Jorgensen initiated inappropriate contact on her 14th birthday in April 2002. She claims he exploited her immaturity and abused his position of authority at the church to take advantage of her.

Jorgensen pleaded no contest in May 2003 to two felony counts of committing lewd acts upon a child, according to online court records. After he completed probation, he sought to have the crimes reduced to misdemeanors and had his record expunged in September 2006.

The victim is suing the church and [senior pastor] Tim Ruhl for being negligent in hiring and supervising Jorgensen. She also claims that Ruhl failed to report Jorgensen’s actions when she told him about it. The woman also alleges that Ruhl retaliated against her by expelling her six months before graduating high school and later claiming she was having a child out of wedlock.
According to Baumbach, when the allegations first came to light, the woman was forced to repeat her claims in a meeting with Ruhl and Jorgensen. Jorgensen denied the claims and accused her of lying.

Eventually, the woman’s mother had her take a polygraph, which she reportedly passed.

According to a deposition of Ruhl, Ruhl said he confronted Jorgensen after the mother reported the results. Jorgensen admitted to the allegations and was terminated.

A few days later the Golden State Baptist College deleted David Jorgensen's picture from its web site.

No mention, however, of the the reason for the deletion. Christians hate people knowing that their religion has become a safe haven for men who like fucking children.

The picture has been deleted from the web cache
Baptists are moving fast to disassociate themselves from this pedophile

Gun Totin' Bomb Droppin' American Jesus

"...when Satan steps into the octagon and he's got rockets in one hand and bombs in another with Hamas, and ISIS, and this agenda to silence our freedoms in America, it is the Bride of Christ that steps in with our wedding gown on and combat boots on and a sword in our right hand and we will win in Jesus name"

(I'll bet those boys look quite swish when they dress up in their wedding gowns)

Are The Americans This Stupid?

Seriously, I can't tell if these are real news stories from real television stations, or skits performed by comedians. They are presented on the websites as real stories and I have a feeling the American public is dumb enough to swallow this garbage - but even so!

Doin' What Comes Naturally

During an interview in September, 2014, Christian rapper, Lecrae, said:

The good thing about God is that he’s everywhere already, so I don’t got to take him with me. That’s just a relationship. I’m not religious at all; I’m not into the routines and rituals. I have a relationship with God, and he’s with me everywhere I go, so I don’t have to force that.
http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/interviews/id.2549/

In effect he is saying that he doesn't need to go to church and he doesn't need to read the bible. He just does whatever he likes whenever he likes, and luckily it always turns out to be exactly what god wanted him to do!

There are so many Christians like that. They have never read the bible. They never go to church. They have no idea what the churches are currently teaching, yet they still regard themselves as the world's best Christians.

Who Are The Gunmen?

Are they religious, or atheists?

You know the answer don't you?
