But forget the dead, forget the injured, forget the damage, forget everything. The statue of Jesus was still standing and that's the only thing that interested the Christians who left their comments on the
WDAM TV Facebook page.
Some of these comments sound like they come from non-Christians taking the piss, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are all from devout believers. You see the Christians have wasted their whole life believing that god will protect them from bad things and therefore, when something bad happens to them, they have to interpret it as something good! If they tell that lie to themselves (and to each other) then their belief in the goodness of god remains firm. If they didn't tell that lie to themselves they would have to admit they have wasted their whole life worshipping a callous and uncaring god - and they simply do not have the courage to make that admission.
So here are a few of the hundreds of comments:
Chris Morgan The Bible that is in our chapel at Carey was untouched but was flipped to Psalm 46, “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” Psalms 46:1
Karen Espree NOTHING can defeat the power of GOD....I've heard of a witness that their house caught on fire and they loss "everything" BUT as they walked through the rubble they found the Bible and it wasn't burned at all. The world rests on the Word of God!!! He's all powerful, Amen!
Kim Reid Quin A statue of Jesus is standing. It is s comfort to most of us. Why did it stand when there was so much devastation? No one knows. Most of us believe it is a sign ... I am a graduate of WCU. Unless you have been there and lived there, I don't think you will understand the significance of somethings. I will pray for those of you with unbelief.
Barbara Cranford I am praying right now - not for the tornado victims but for you mockers and unbelievers. I would be so afraid if I were you.
Linda Walton Smith God was with those that died, he welcomed them to heaven with open arms, unless of course they chose not to accept him as their Savior and Lord, then, well they are pretty warm about now.
Karen Mizell This is so inspiring. How can people doubt our loving and faithful God. He truly protected the students today. Thank you God.
Angelica Quintana May God's will be done. It's not our place to ask why. Nothing on this earth belongs to us, the lord lends everything to us. I don't even belong to myself. We need to have faith and accept whatever it is the Lord gives us. Earth is not our permanent home, heaven is.
Dawn Rushing Smith if the 3 dead were Christians they are rejoicing with their Jesus. Better off than the rest of us.
Judy Dean God is reminding us that even in the middle of a storm...he is there to give us hope and strength.
Debbie Henley With that statue still standing. Jesus may be telling you unbelievers that you better look at your on life.
